Holiday Homes In France
Luxury Farmhouse with Heated Pool in the Dordogne
St Vivian, midway between Bergerac and Bordeaux, Southwest France
2 or 4 bedrooms, sleeping 4 or 6/8 people
Le Roc Nord
Previously the farmhouse of a well established vineyard, Le Roc Nord provides you and your family, not only with an idyllic location for a self-catering holiday, sunshine, peace and the wonderful, historical countryside of South West France, but the opportunity to enjoy plenty of activities and superb food and wine. The farmhouse, which was meticulously renovated in 2002, is spacious and equipped to the high standard that we ourselves would like to find when on holiday.
This extremely flexible accommodation is suitable for parties of all sizes. For 1 or 2 couples, it is ideal, offering the ground floor and all the facilities; the upstairs rooms will be closed off and unoccupied. For larger groups, the full accommodation is available, plus all the facilities.
St Vivien is a delightful village in the middle of the Bergerac vineyards, an hour from Bordeaux. The 12th Century church is the focal point in the village. There is also a village shop/bar, tennis court and wine cooperative all within a one kilometer walk of Le Roc Nord. There are numerous market towns nearby, such as Ste Foy-La-Grande, Montpon and Castillon-la-Bataille with excellent locally grown produce for sale. Our nearest town is Vélines (3 km) with bar, post office, pharmacy, doctor, boulangerie and general store and the nearest supermarket is 10 km away.
The farmhouse accommodation sleeps up to 8 in four bedrooms. The double and twin bedrooms downstairs have their own en suite shower rooms, the two upstairs bedrooms share a large bathroom with both bath and shower. A cot is available upon request and there is a hairdryer.
The salon is comfortably furnished with sofas and armchairs, satellite television, VCR, DVD players, telephone and wi-fi, music centre, books, board games and a fire for the cooler months. On the first floor, there is a large open plan area with sofas and chairs, a second TV, VCR and a good selection of board games, ideal for the children to get away from parents!
The light and airy farmhouse kitchen has a pine table and chairs and a magnificent range of built-in wooden cupboards providing ample storage. The kitchen is very well equipped with a gas cooker, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine, microwave and food processor, kettle and toaster. The house also has central heating for our out of season visitors.
Attached to the farmhouse, there is a spacious games room with a table tennis table and darts board. We also supply badminton, boules, a swing, paddling pool and sandpit for the little ones. There are two terraces, which are well equipped with tables, chairs, umbrellas, sun loungers and barbecues.
The 10m x 5m private, heated swimming pool, is totally enclosed to give peace of mind to parents of young children. The pool has a diving board, Roman steps and underwater lighting. It is maintained daily and has a salt water system, thus avoiding chlorine. There is a 7m x 4m covered terrace area for those who prefer some shade, sun beds, table and chairs.
The leisure lake at Lac de Gurson with boating, riding, tennis, crazy golf, a water shoot, a large sandy beach, an assault course and several bars and restaurants, is 6 km from here. An 18-hole golf course at Chateau Vigiers, is a 30 minute drive, whilst the 9-hole course at Chateau Les Merles, is 45 minutes. Canoeing on the River Dordogne is only 10 minutes away. There is a second lake locally, providing hydro jets, quad bikes and roller-skating, a tennis court in St Vivien and Go-carting and a golf course in Bergerac.
Situated in the heart of the world’s finest wine growing area, the Médoc, St Emilion, Pomerol and Bergerac vineyards are on the doorstep. We can also introduce you to our local vineyards, who produce very good wines at most reasonable prices.
The beautiful Atlantic coastal resorts of Arcachon and Cap Ferret are within easy reach for a day trip. So are the medieval towns of Sarlat and Domme, and the prehistoric caves at Lascaux and Les Eyzies. There is also an abundance of chateaux, fascinating Bastide towns and attractive villages to explore.
